Jhay Levi-Alford
Jhaleel (Jhay) Levi-Alford is a third-year fellow candidate in the
Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy. He is currently majoring in
Biomedical Sciences. Jhay has a long-term goal of opening a successful
plastic surgery practice in Miami, FL and becoming a medical
contributor for GQ Magazine. During his time at Grand Valley, Jhay has
been extremely involved on campus and throughout the community. He is
a proud member of the Black Male Scholars program and has volunteered
and interned for Kindred Hospice. Jhay currently works as a Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) instructor for STEM
Greenhouse, teaching math and science to 6th - 8th grade students in
Grand Rapids, MI. He has also been a mentor for both the Cook Library
Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grand Rapids. In 2018, Jhay was
admitted to the MSU College of Medicine’s Pipeline Program. This year,
Jhay will be working on cardiovascular research through the Biomedical
Sciences Department. He is looking forward to continuing his
leadership journey and learning from the fellows, and CLA staff and
mentors, and sharing his unique perspective on leadership.
