Ryan Blok (he/him/his) is ballet pianist in the Department of Music and Dance at Grand Valley State University, a position he has held since 2017. His dance accompanying experience began at Grand Rapids Ballet where he continues to play for school classes and professional company classes. At his office in Grandville, Ryan instructs a studio of 30 piano and voice students. His other professional engagements have included serving as Assistant Director of the West Michigan Gay Men’s Chorus, playing in theatre pit orchestras around West Michigan, teaching at the Knollcrest Music Camp, and singing with Opera Grand Rapids, as well as collaborating with vocalists and horn players at GVSU. He serves as Treasurer on the Executive Board of the Piano Teachers’ Forum of Grand Rapids, and is a member of the Michigan Music Teachers’ Association, as well as the Music Teachers National Association. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in music and a Piano Pedagogy Certificate from Grand Valley State University.
