About
Dr Robin Connell's varied professional music career
includes twenty summers as Jazz Faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp,
seventeen years teaching Music Theory and Jazz Studies at Grand Rapids
Community College, Adjunct faculty at Aquinas College, performing,
judging and conducting at music education conferences (including
All-State and regional Honor jazz bands), two years as Artist in
Residence at Garden City Community College ( as part of the Rural Arts
Initiative, funded by Chamber Music America and the National Endowment
for the Arts), and twelve years working as a full-time musician in New
York City.
Her Doctorate of Arts, in Music Theory and Composition, is from
the University of Northern Colorado where she was a graduate teaching
assistant in the Jazz Studies program.
She is also a GVSU (GVSC) alum and very pleased to be teaching in
the very place she was first introduced to jazz.
