Ty Hendry - Film and Video
Ty Hendry is a senior in the Film Video program at Grand Valley State
University. His studies have primarily incorporated virtual reality
and documentary film. He freely admits the unorthodox nature of his
studies, but believes wholeheartedly in the intersection between the
two disciplines. He believes that it all comes down to condensing the
complicated into something simple, something readily digestible.
Information isn’t anything if there isn’t anybody who can actually
understand it and inspiring empathy is one way of teaching. He has
helped to coordinate seminars introducing Animation to the students of
West Michigan and served on the inaugural eBoard of the GVSU Animation
Guild. Through his work for Grand Valley’s Digital Studio, he has
played an integral role in generating teaching materials for faculty
in emerging mediums. Most recently, he spent July in London, producing
a documentary about the condition of the homeless in the United
Kingdom which has screened internationally.
