Academic Advising in Honors

Required First-Year Advising

If you are a first-year student, you are required to meet with a professional academic advisor for your major before registering for the 23-24 academic year. Registration will begin in late March. You should schedule your advising appointment soon via Navigate (choose "academic advising" and then choose your major). 

*You are not required to meet with an Honors advisor before registering

The following options are available to seek advising through the Honors College:

1. Email Kary or Emily with any questions. 

2. Schedule an appointment with Kary or Emily through Navigate. You can choose either in-person or virtual. These appointments can help you plan for your next steps in Honors, learn about fulfilling Honors requirements when studying abroad, or talk about resources and next steps if you are struggling academically or personally. For directions on how to set up an appointment click here

Scheduling an Appointment in Navigate

In order to schedule an Honors advising appointment:

  1. Choose "Academic Advising" for the office that you would like to meet with.
  2. Choose "Honors" as the service.
  3. Choose your date!
  4. Select which location you would like to meet in:
    • On-campus in 120 Niemeyer
    • Virtually (you will receive a link via email)

Please review the information on our Honors Senior Project website. If you have questions after reviewing that information feel free to email Kary or Emily, or make an appointment in Navigate.

FERPA Guidelines

If students request additional participants (such as parents or partners) to advising appointments or any conversation regarding course performance, the student must fill out the FERPA Permissions to Release Non-Public Information. Students should fill it out, save it, and email it as an attachment prior to their appointment.
