For high school students entering college for the first time, the normal expectation is a 3.5 high school GPA and an SAT score of 1300 or ACT score of 28. More important, however, are demonstrations of strong academic motivation and ability to achieve on a high level. The application asks you to show these through completing a self-assessment, listing academic and leadership accomplishments, writing a strong essay, and submitting a significant analytical or creative paper from high school.
The Honors College also welcomes applications from students transferring from another college or university or from within GVSU. Our normal expectation is that transfer students will have a 3.5 college GPA.
All prospective students should review the Self Assessment for Prospective Students for characteristics of students in the Frederik Meijer Honors College. If these characteristics describe you, please apply. If you've already been accepted by Grand Valley and want to apply to the Meijer Honors College, complete the online application here.
There is no specific deadline for applications and students are encouraged to apply as early as possible before the semester they want to start. High School Students should apply before May 1 due to Orientation starting in May but applications will be accepted throughout the summer.
