The Center for Student Research and Scholarly Engagement (CSRSE) serves students interested in pursuing academic and creative experiences and projects outside the classroom. CSRSE houses the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (OURS), the Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships, and Graduate Student Research. Together we have a mission to provide students with the opportunity to conduct research, apply for competitive inter/national fellowship/scholarships to fund study abroad, post-graduate opportunities, and more.

What does CSRSE do?

  • We support students' paths to success in college and beyond.
  • We connect students with campus resources and opportunities.
  • We encourage academic achievement.
  • We guide students toward high-impact experiences such as undergraduate research, study abroad, internships, competitive fellowships, community service and post-commencement gap-year opportunities.
  • We motivate students to share their research findings and to embrace the impact of engaged, informed, and ethically designed research in public service, in professional and academic fields, and within communities.
  • We recognize, support and celebrate students as developing intellectual beings who are seeking through immersive, experiential learning opportunities not just to study a discipline but to become practitioners of that discipline, to become chemists, poets, political scientists, etc., rather than observers of a field of knowledge, to become increasingly competent members of the knowledge community, not passive consumers of knowledge generated by others.
