Daniel Wenzel, Cyprus
Greetings from Cyprus! I would like to first say, thank you for being
a part of the organization that made this trip possible. If I could
put into words the amount of self-growth I have achieved while being
abroad, I wouldn’t be able to do it in an email! However, I will try
to sum it up as quickly as possible...
Cyprus is a BEAUTIFUL country, one that I will certainly return to in
the near future. I have made some amazing friends, from multiple
countries, and would like to say that my contact list is growing. The
ability to travel from Cyprus has been amazing as well! I have visited
seven other countries aside from Cyprus, and plan to travel more
towards the end of this semester. I have explored so much of the
island, and still have so much to see! The north (Turkish) side is as
rich in history as the southern (Greek) side. I have made myself at
home in a few cafes to study, and the language barrier is very
minimal. A winter here is like fall in Michigan, and 80 degrees is not
uncommon for an afternoon temperature. I have had amazing support from
Global Semesters here in Cyprus, and have had zero issues with
housing, professors, classes, or food.
I would again like to thank the Padnos family for the support in my
time abroad. I have researched with a professor that is the head of
the Mediterranean cancer research foundation; I have and continue to
shadow a top rated Cardiologist at the Nicosia general hospital, and
have made best friends with other like minded future physicians (as
well as many other professions). This experience (as I said before) is
nearly impossible to reflect on in this email, but I hope I portrayed
my sincere feelings of gratitude and excitement for this year. Thank
you once again Padnos family.
