Credit Card Program

About the Program

The credit card program provides a MasterCard credit card to faculty and staff to make small dollar purchases. All charges are billed directly to the University. The card is for business use only and has merchant and spending controls.

Faculty and Staff may be eligible for a declining balance card for specific situations (see below: What Type of Card Do I Need?).

What Type of Card Do I Need?

Expense Card

Declining Balance Card

Travels more than twice per year

Travels twice or less per year

Makes business purchases for your role/department

Doesn't want to use personal funds for business travel

 

Needs to make cash withdrawals (requires sufficient reasoning)

 

Does not make any other purchases with GVSU funds


Apply for an Expense Card

  1. Complete the appropriate Expense Card Application in Workday.
  2. Have your manager and appointing officer approve the application in Workday
  3. All charges must be reconciled in Workday by the end of the month
  4. Cardholders must follow the Purchasing Card Program and University Travel policies

Expenses Training

Faculty and Staff who are issued an expense card are encouraged to attend an Expenses training to learn how to reconcile the charges on an expense report in Workday.
