Thursday, October 27, 2016 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Description

Hosted by Matt Ruen, Scholarly Communications Outreach Coordinator, University Libraries; Christine Rener, Director, Robert and Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center; and Justin Melick, Digital Media Developer, IT.

Open Educational Resources—textbooks and other course materials which are free to access, share, and remix—are a hot topic in higher education.  With textbook costs skyrocketing, OER can help make students’ education more affordable, but they also offer instructors more flexibility and more potential for customization.  In this session, you will explore collections of high-quality OER, learn ways to leverage OER for engaging and effective courses, and discuss opportunities for assessing the impact of OER.
