The Department of Visual and Media Arts has two active searches for tenure-track faculty to start in August 2024. Both positions are part of the cluster hire in Society, Technology, and Environment. We also seek applications for the 2024-25 Stuart and Barbara Padnos Distinguished Artist-in-Residence.
All positions are designed to enhance the experiences of students in the Department of Visual and Media Arts, both majors and non-majors, at Grand Valley State University.

Department of Visual and Media Arts Facilities Information
Calder Arts Center

The Calder Arts Center houses the majority of the programs in the Department of Visual and Media Arts. Located on the Southeast edge of the Allendale campus, it holds classes for Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Film and Video Production, Graphic Design, Illustration, Jewelry and Metals, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Visual Studies. It is a 72,000sq. foot facility designed for students' creative endeavors in traditional and new media.
Lake Superior Hall

Lake Superior Hall houses the Film and Video Production and Photography programs in the Department of Visual and Media Arts, among other GVSU programs. It is one of the first buildings to be erected in Allendale, equipped for students' creative endeavors in the communication arts.
Mary Idema Pew Library

The Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons is designed to be the intellectual heart of the Allendale Campus. It exceeds the expectations of anyone who thinks of a library solely as a home for printed books and whispered words.
