Kathryn Thornton
Kathryn is a fourth year undergraduate student at Grand Valley State
University pursuing a degree in Recreational Therapy where she will
specialize in working with children with cognitive disabilities.
Kathryn has been involved in Student Senate, Michigan Therapeutic
Recreation Associates (MTRA), and is currently the President of
Recreational Therapy Student Association (RTSA) at Grand Valley.
Alongside her extracurriculars, she has been volunteering for Western
Michigan Special Olympics, Grand Valley Adaptive Tennis, IKUS Life
Enrichment, and Miracle league. As a first year fellow candidate, she
is excited to further develop her public speaking skills and to grow
her leadership skills along side her peers. Above all, she hopes to
bring the skills learned from this experience and utilize them to help
implement and promote activism for individuals with disabilities in
her own community.
