Grand Valley Logo
The Grand Valley logo system includes our primary, secondary, and tertiary logos. Each logo type is used in different ways and for different purposes.
Permissions for Use
In order to protect the integrity of our registered trademarks, we categorize our permissions based on the user's role and intent. Don't fall into one of the categories listed? Contact us for clarification.
Faculty/Staff
Faculty and staff members may use a Grand Valley logo for university-related projects.
Students/Alumni
Students and alumni are not allowed to use a Grand Valley logo for individual/personal projects. This includes (but is not limited to) class projects, websites, resumés, conference and presentation materials, or personal promotions.
Student Organizations
Once approved by University Marketing, a registered student organization may use a Grand Valley logo.
Vendors
Vendors are allowed to use a Grand Valley logo if they are registered with Affinity Licensing.
Logomark
The Grand Valley logomark can be used as a graphic element to enhance materials and increase familiarity with our visual identity. It can also be used as a logo. As a logo, it is best used for internal audiences or audiences who are very familiar with GVSU, and for extremly small use cases where full logos are impractical.
When used as a logo for external-facing materials, the appropriate primary logo should be present in addition to the stand-alone logomark.
Download the Grand Valley Logomark
Download the Grand Valley logomark in black, GVSU blue, and white, in file formats for both print and online use. Requires valid GVSU network login to access.
Other University Marks
Other university marks include the Athletics logo system, anniversary type treatments, and the university seal.
Using Licensed Vendors
If you are applying any logos, type treatments, or verbiage registered for trademark by Grand Valley State University to items that will be commercially printed or resold, your vendor must be licensed through Affinity Licensing.
Tip
When working with images intended for printed items, be sure to obtain and use a high-resolution version of the image.
Images on the web are intentionally low-resolution in order to make their file sizes small and help webpages load faster. Printed materials (i.e. posters, flyers, t-shirts) require high-resolution images in order to appear clear and crisp on the final product. There are image resolution checking tools available online to help ensure you're using the correct-resolution file for your purposes.
When using one of our Grand Valley logos on printed materials, be sure to use the .pdf file version.
