Best Practices
Planning video content for your unit's communication channels? Be sure to consider the following:
Define your goal
When you're planning video content, the first and most important step is to create a simple storyboard or outline. This should include the topics you want to cover and some ideas for how to best visually represent them.
Quality is clarity
Videos of low quality, produced using non-professional equipment, are discouraged from being shared through any university communication channel. However, there are some instances, such some social media channels, where lo-fi or non-professional video is expected and accepted.
Be concise
The goal is to captivate the audience with a concise and compelling narrative. As a general rule, it is recommended that videos should not exceed three minutes in length.
Video is for everyone
It is essential to adhere to ADA digital accessibility standards, which require the inclusion of captions for all video assets.
