English Language & Literacy Support
Welcome!
The Writing Center aims to support any writer at any stage of the writing process. We train our consultants to provide strategies, information, and resources for writers wanting support in language or literacy skills -- this includes writers learning how to compose in varieties of English, writers learning English as an additional language, or writers with interest in supporting their reading process along the way.
This page highlights some of the ways we try to help writers with language & literacy skills:

Need More Support?
The Writing Center offers Weekly Appointments (upon request and approval) for certain students. If you are learning English as an additional language, have permission from a professor, or think the extra help is something you need, then you are invited to come into the Writing Center to pick up your APPLICATION.
Come to the LOH 120 location or contact us for more information about setting up a weekly appointment.
Before calling, be aware of the following:
- Weekly appointments are serious commitments. We will assign a dedicated consultant to meet with you for 50 minutes every week. This kind of commitment is for you and should not be taken lightly.
- The appointment lasts for 50 minutes. In that time, you (the writer) are responsible for having enough work to do - but it doesn't have to be the same every week. Feel free to bring in any writing assignment, project, or questions to discuss with your consultant.
- We try to schedule around your availability. This means, the more available you are, the easier it is for us to find a consultant who can work with you.
