What is the Lightboard?

The Lightboard is an innovative tool that allows instructors to write while still facing their students. When the markers write on the board they appear to glow, this allows faculty to create engaging visuals that will help drive home instruction.

Lightboards are available at all three of our Bridge Studio Locations.

How to Prepare for a Lightboard Recording

As of June 2025, we have updated our process for recording lightboard videos! This means that you no longer are required to have a black background color, or make any adjustments at all.

Even though you do not need to edit your Powerpoint, some general best practices are:

  • Chunking your content
  • Do not wear a green shirt
  • Do not wear a shirt that has logos or words
  • Leave at least 1/3 of the Powerpoint empty for you to stand in
  • Make sure the text is at minimum 18pt font
  • Don't be afraid of making mistakes!

How the Lightboard was Built

Constructing the lightboard was a semester long process that involved following in the footsteps of other universities who have developed the concept as well adding in our own ideas and innovations.
