Build Your Campus Brand
Effective college recruiting is more than just filling open positions. It's about building relationships, visibility, and trust with tomorrow’s top talent. At GVSU, the most successful employers know that recruiting is a year-round, strategic effort. By maintaining a consistent on-campus presence and making a long-term investment in student engagement, you create a strong and lasting employer brand that will keep your talent pipeline full of excellent candidates.

Develop an Internship or Co-Op Program
Providing internship and co-operative education experiences allows you to involve students in meaningful and productive work, while energizing your organization with fresh, new and creative ideas. Student interns are up-to-date on the latest theories and patterns in their particular field of interest and can help bring exciting change to your organization. Internship programs are also cost effective for employers, as many organizations recruit new full-time employees from their pool of interns.
Offer meaningful experiential learning opportunities to GVSU students. Interns often become your brand ambassadors on campus.
Employer of the Day
The Employer of the Day program is an opportunity for your organization to be a featured employer on campus and to share information about your organization. Employers are provided a tabling space in a high-traffic student area specific to the career community to engage with students on their way to & from class. Plan to informally engage with students and share information about current job opportunities, internships, and co-op positions. Please plan to bring tabling and display materials, relevant handouts, and giveaway items.

Employer Tabling
Tabling in a high-traffic location at either Allendale or the Pew campus (downtown Grand Rapids) is another great way to raise brand awareness and reach students. Reservations must be made at least five business days (10 days recommended) before you plan to be on campus, and no more than 30 days in advance.
Interview GVSU Students
Interviews may be conducted on-campus or virtually. We encourage you to use Handshake and its scheduling capabilities for either option. You may request a date through Handshake, manage your interview schedule(s), and allow students to sign up for interview times that work for them. Or, if you prefer to use your own system to schedule, please advertise your interview date, job posting(s), and application period to students on Handshake, and provide links for students to connect to the platform you're using for the remote interviews.
