Coloring Kids' Food Basket Bags Stop by the Office of Sustainability Practices to grab some brown paper bags to color for Kids' Food Basket! Help KFB provide an extra touch of love to every child they serve! Each Sack Supper is a nutritious, ready-to-eat meal delivered right to a child’s classroom or summer site, ensuring children have access to the healthy food they need to thrive. Decorated Sack Supper bags are the secret ingredient to success— they need your help year-round to provide that extra touch of love! There will be instructions on the table outside our office or you can find them here! |

Volunteer at the SAP! We are eager to accommodate group volunteer days for your class, fraternity, sorority, or club (maximum of 10 visitors per group). Important information for volunteers: -Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants -Please bring sunscreen, a sun hat, water bottle, and snack -No dogs or other pets are allowed at the SAP -There is no wifi available at the SAP, so please plan accordingly -Watch this training video before your first shift -You must complete a COVID-19 self-assessment form before volunteering at the SAP. Project Green Challenge Starting on October 1, Project Green Challenge (PGC) will inform, inspire and mobilize high school, college, and grad school students globally. Each day during the month of October, a uniquely themed challenge will be delivered to registered PGC participants by email at 6 am Pacific Time. Each challenge will be live for 24 hours inviting participants to complete actions and upload deliverables to acquire points. |

Undergraduate Research Fair At the event, students have the opportunity to get information about participating in research and creative projects directly from faculty and staff. Participating in research and creative projects at GVSU can expand students' academic experience and provide students with another way to look at the world. Research is a process of careful inquiry leading to the discovery of new information. Research is not limited to certain majors, but occurs in all disciplines. The Undergraduate Research Fair is sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship. Food will also be provided. |

Family Weekend 5k
Hosted by Recreation & Wellness, the GVSU Family Weekend 5K run/walk course is a flat, fast course that will show off the beauty of the Grand Valley Campus in the fall season. This race will have professional timing and immediate results. This year, we will have an in-person and virtual event. The in-person event will take place on the Allendale campus on Saturday, October 9. For the virtual event, racers will submit their time, and the top three times will receive a prize. Registration is now open for both the virtual and in person race! Registration prior to 12pm on September 24 guarantees a t-shirt. T-shirt is not a guarantee if after 12pm on September 24. |

Fall Color Bike Tour with GVSU Outdoor Adventures
The only thing better than enjoying fall color by bike is enjoying fall color by bike with friends and donuts! The Outdoor Adventures program invites you to join a casual group ride (<10 mph) from our Pew campus through Grand Rapids’ Millenium Park. BYOBike (& helmet - required) and we’ll take care of the donuts. The ride will start/ finish at the Devos campus plaza near the carillon tower. There will be 2 route options. A 9 mile out & back and a longer loop of 13-15 miles. It will be comprised of 90% paved trail, 10% low-traffic roads (start/ finish). There will be a planned rest-stop near the middle of the ride to enjoy refreshments. The total anticipated time is 1.25-2 hours depending on your route selection, including stops. Transportation of bikes is the responsibility of each participant. Up to 3 bikes can fit on each LakerLine bus. Outdoor Adventures does not have rental bikes or helmets available at this time. |

GVSU Repair Clinic Twice an academic year, faculty and staff volunteers gather for a two-hour session to fix students' rips and missing buttons, jammed zippers, broken glasses, backpack straps and much more. This service is absolutely free to any GVSU student. At each clinic, we try to repair as much as we can for as many as we can. So far, over 370 services have been performed at Repair Clinics. Knitting instruction on site with yarn and knitting needles learners may keep. Snacks and small giveaways. Advisors on hand to talk about any academic or scheduling questions you may have. |

GVSU Manistee River Trail Backpacking Trip
Nestled in the Manistee National Forest the Manistee River Trail will serve as your introduction to backpacking/hiking in Manistee County. This perfect weekend hike offers a varied and dynamic perspective of the natural beauty of lower Michigan. This overnight trip will follow the ~10 mile Manistee River Trail for an end-to-end hike. While well conditioned hikers can do the trail in a day, our trip plans to offer a more casual pace. This will allow time to focus on enjoying the natural beauty of the area, getting to know your fellow hiking companions and dialing-in your outdoor skills. You will not want to miss this opportunity to explore the natural wonders the Michigan forests have to offer. Join us, as we adventure in our own backyard! Want to know more? Democracy 101: Affordable Housing Join us this fall for our expanded version of Democracy 101 in partnership with the Cook Leadership Academy out of Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies. Each session will have a presentation component that focuses on education about the topic and how it impacts not only our community, but communities across the country. The second half will hold space for a student led Dialogue about the topic. |

Climate Change Education Solutions Summit - GVSU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Regional Math and Science Center, and Geography and Sustainable Planning Department The Summit will bring together scientists, educators, business leaders, students, citizens groups, and the public to share innovative ideas and perspectives on climate change education in Michigan and worldwide and its role in successful climate action. This three-day event will include keynote presentations, panel discussions, and online workshops, providing excellent teaching, learning, and networking opportunities. Participants will be able to participate in several virtual sessions and round tables, engage with interactive visualization tools, discover climate change teaching materials, and participate in the Climate Story Telling Workshop. |
