Outdoor Fields and Courts

Grand Valley State University is proud to be able to supply its students, faculty and both club and intercollegiate athletic teams with some of the nicest outdoor sports facilities in the Midwest.

Arend D. Lubbers Stadium

Lubbers Stadium is home to the National Champion Laker Football Team. Averaging roughly 12,000 fans per game, Lubbers has been one of the top Division II football venues in the Nation. The Lakers set a Lubbers Stadium and GLIAC single-game on-campus record in 2016 as 16,874 fans watched Grand Valley State claim a 35-23 victory over Ferris State. Lubbers Stadium is closed to the general public when not hosting games.

GVSU Baseball Field

Located adjacent to the Kelly Family Sports Center, the venue is home to the Laker Baseball Team and has a seating capacity of 465 spectators.  It measures 330 ft. to left and right field and 400 ft. to center field.   This facility is only open to GVSU Athletics.

GVSU Softball Field

The new softball facility was completed in 2008 and includes natural grass, a mixed clay infield, dugouts, batting cages, a new scoreboard, stadium style seating, and a fully enclosed press box.  It is located directly behind the Kelly Family Sports Center.  This facility is only open to GVSU Athletics.

The South Complex (outdoor track and lacrosse)

With its opening in 2012, the South Complex has been a great asset to the Laker Track and Field and Women's Lacrosse Teams. It contains a full nine lane, 400m track, as well as areas for field events such as the pole vault and throws. Inside the track there is a full-sized field lined for lacrosse that serves as the home stadium when the Lakers compete in the Spring. The outdoor track is open most weekdays in the spring for drop-in use and summer and fall months.  Scheduled events and/or poor weather may also cancel open track time on occasion.

Laker Tennis Courts

Located next to the Kelly Family Sports Center, Grand Valley State offers eight beautiful tennis courts. Overhead lighting is provided (manually activated) and they are open to the public when the GVSU Laker Tennis team or other scheduled activities are not using them.

GVSU Soccer Field

The home of GVSU soccer resides South of West Campus Drive, across the street from the Meadows Golf Course. The playing surface is natural grass and the facility has access to Men's and Women's locker rooms, a weight room, and a newly renovated press box. This facility is only open to GVSU Athletics.

Outdoor Basketball Courts

GVSU offers three full court basketball courts that were constructed in 2008 north of the Kelly Family Sports Center and West of the Fieldhouse.  Overhead lights are provided and on/off times vary by season.  Light schedule to resume spring time. Outdoor basketball courts are open for drop-in use when weather permits.  LIGHTS ARE ON SUNSET - 11PM

Sand Volleyball Courts

GVSU offers three beautiful sand volleyball courts for Grand Valley students that were constructed in 2008 north of the Kelly Family Sports Center and West of the Fieldhouse. Sand volleyball is closed down in late fall in preparation for the winter semester and opens back up in late spring. Overhead lights are provided and on/off times vary by season.  Light schedule to resume spring time. Sand volleyball courts are open for drop-in use when weather permits.  LIGHTS ARE ON SUNSET - 11PM

Synthetic Turf Fields

Constructed in 2010, the East artificial turf field is used for Intramurals and Club Sports such as rugby, lacrosse and soccer. The West turf fields were constructed in 2011 and are located west of the outdoor Track/Lacrosse Stadium.  These 252,000 sq. ft. synthetic turf fields are used for soccer, lacrosse, flag football and also contain two artificial turf softball fields all with lights for night activities. When Intramurals and/or Club Sports are not using them, these turf fields are open for drop-in use.  LIGHTS ARE ON SUNSET - 11PM
