Policies on Student Organization Web Sites and LakerLink usage

Technology privileges are granted to registered student organizations at the discretion of the Office of Student Life. The Office of Student Life and Computing Services reserves the right to remove these privileges at any time.

Website

Any student organization site must adhere to certain posting guidelines.

• The home page of the site should include the full name of the student organization, and a link to the Office of Student Life home page (www.gvsu.edu/studentlife).
• Include name and current e-mail address of someone who updates that webpage.
• Any use of the university name and logo must be in accordance with all university policies on their use and placement.
• Any student organization with a national affiliation should include a link to its national office website.
• All university policies on web site posting must be followed.
• No paid advertising is allowed on the site.
• All content must complement the mission of the Office of Student Life and Grand Valley State University.
• Distasteful content or inappropriate images and text are not allowed.

LakerLink

Every Registered Student Organization is expected to utilize LakerLink.

• Student organizations are required to keep updated rosters of active members, Executive Board positions, and advisor positions.
• Any changes made to a LakerLink portal are submitted automatically to the Office of Student Life for review and approval.
• The use of the words: Grand Valley State University, Grand Valley, GVSU, or Laker are prohibited in the title of a student organization due to copyright laws.
• Any student organization with a national affiliation should include a link to its national office website.
• All university policies on web site posting must be followed.
• No paid advertising is allowed on LakerLink.
• All content must complement the mission of the Office of Student Life and Grand Valley State University.

Email Address

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are able to request an @mail.gvsu.edu email address using LakerLink. Please note that it can take up to 3 weeks to process requests.
