Community Historians Event
Dr. Leanne Kang of the Literacy, Educational Foundations, and Technology Department at GVSU, presented her findings from her oral history project "GRPS Uncovered: Oral History as Podcasts" at a community event on October 26th, 2024, titled ‘Community Historians: Telling the GRPS Story Together,’ co-hosted by the Grand Rapids African American Museum and Archives and The Grand Rapids People’s History Project. Dr. Kang’s work sought to obtain recorded interviews of former students, staff, and faculty who studied or worked in Grand Rapids Public Schools from 1968 to the present, and turning these oral histories into podcasts. This project was sponsored and funded by the Kutsche Office of Local History, as part of our Community Collaboration Grant program.
