Student Login
Through conversations and meetings with working or retired professionals, students:
- Learn first-hand what it is really like to work in a certain career field/profession
- Find out what it takes to successfully break into the job market
- Understand what an employer is really looking for in a new hire
- Discover what it takes to be successful on the job and how to avoid common pitfalls of the first few months on the job
- Make important professional connections
Here's how it works:
- Log in using your student account username and password
- Use the search function to search by criteria such as college major, career field, years in a profession, and location
- Select the profile of a contact that interests you
- An email will be automatically sent to you with the person's contact information
- An email is also sent to the contact with your basic information (name, major, year in college, email)
- Note: You are only permitted to select one contact profile per week, with a maximum of three contacts in a year. Please be purposeful and intentional in your selections
- You contact the person to set an informational telephone interview or in-person visit to the person's place of work
- Click here before making your initial phone or email contact to learn how to conduct a meaningful interview
- If the informational interview results in a desire to learn more, you may conduct a job shadow to see just what the person's day-to-day work-life is like (typically a 1/2 or full day)
- Click here to learn how to conduct a successful job shadow experience
