| What's Changing | Category | How It Is Now | How It Will Be In Workday (2026/2027 & Beyond) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Override Requests / Permits | Records and Registration | Currently override requests / permits (pre-requisite, co-requisite, closed class, attribute, capacity, etc.) are requested by students and approved by faculty via a Banner workflow and require specifc codes. Overrides may also be applied preemptively by faculty and professional advisors. |
Students will use the Request Course Section Pre-Requisite Override task in Workday for any override request / permit. Departmental approvers will need to pull a report to identify approvals needed. Overrides may still be applied preemptively by faculty or professional advisors except for capacity overrides. There will be no need to memorize multiple override types. Learn more here. |
| Programs of Study (Majors/Minors), Certificates, and Badges | Records and Registration | Currently students use Banner to change a program of study (major/minor). Declaring a certificate or badge is a separate process within Banner. Students are not prompted to enter any effective or completion dates. |
With Workday, students can make changes/additions to program of study (major/minor) and certificates/badges within Workday using the Change Program of Study process. Students will be required to enter a program completion date; however, students are not expected to know this date. Help text will instruct students to input any date, and that date will be automatically overwritten behind the scenes to ensure it is correct. Learn more here. |
| Student Personal Information | Records and Registration | Student personal information including third party proxy and emergency contact information is housed in Banner. |
