Workday Student Training
Overview
Training for Workday Student will begin in late 2026 and will continue at various points throughout 2027. Training will consist of:
- Workday Help Articles
- Demo Videos
- Instructor-led Courses (in-person and virtual)
- Practice Labs (in-person and virtual)
Workday Student Training Timeline
READINESS REVIEW / MOCK SEMESTER: A simulation period for students, faculty, and staff to familiarize themselves with Workday before the first official activity launch.
TRAINING: Training will be provided prior to each activity launch in a variety of formats including: instructor-led classes (in-person and virtual), Workday Help articles, and demo videos.
ACTIVITY LAUNCHES: Various student-related activities such as accepting financial aid will launch in Workday beginning in late 2026. Other activites will launch throughout 2027.
Help Articles & Demo Videos
Workday Help articles are step-by-step guides to complete a particular task in Workday. Demo videos are video versions of Workday Help articles, and will generally be 2-5 minutes in length.
The Workday Help Center is currently used by GVSU faculty and staff for Finance & HR help. Go to GVSU’s Workday Help Center.
Approximately 60 Help articles will be created for students, faculty, and staff for activities such as registering for class, viewing class rosters, etc.
Courses & Practice Labs
Courses will be offered in a variety of formats including instructor-led (in-person & virtual) & self-paced.
Practice labs will be offered both in-person & virtual and will be an opportunity for individuals to practice and/or complete tasks in Workday.
Courses and practice labs will be 25 - 50 minute sessions.
Training Team
The Workday Student Training Team is made up of training leads, workstream leads, faculty, and subject matter experts, who bring their knowledge and experience together to create effective learning opportunities.
