The Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, and Tuba/Euphonium studios make up the Brass area of the GVSU Music Theatre, and Dance department. In addition to performing in GVSU’s large ensembles, such as Wind Symphony, Concert Band, and Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Laker Marching Band and other athletic bands, GVSU brass students study with the above faculty weekly through individual lessons, studio classes, and masterclasses for all brass students. Brass students are also active in chamber music at GVSU. The brass area regularly features GVSU students in brass quintets, trumpet ensemble, horn quartets, trombone quartets, trombone choir, tuba-euphonium quartets, and tuba-euphonium ensemble.
