• 24 CreditsStudio art integrates the values of a liberal education while preparing students for intensive engagement with the production and examination of the visual arts.
The studio art minor offers students in other majors the opportunity to pursue their interests in the visual arts. Students choose eight courses for the minor, which can be structured for broad engagement or focused learning in studio art.
Students take a variety of courses, including both two-dimensional and three-dimensional disciplines. Coursework in art history and other art disciplines round out this minor to embrace many artistic interests.
The program emphasizes creativity while considering broader ethical, historical, scientific, and cultural ideas, fostering work that contributes to public dialogue. Students benefit from small classes that ensure individualized attention from professors who are practicing and awarded artists. Coursework is completed in state-of-the-art facilities, equipping students with essential skills for their chosen media. The program encourages collaboration across emphasis areas, supporting individual interests and helping students acquire the expertise necessary for participation in arts communities and self-advocacy after graduation.
The program is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design
