• 21 CreditsJuvenile justice addresses the legal and social issues related to young offenders.
This minor examines the causes of juvenile delinquency, the legal processes involved, and the rehabilitative approaches that integrate youth into society. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education that will prepare them for careers in the field of human services, with a focus on juvenile offenders and at-risk youth.
The curriculum explores justice and society, criminology, the juvenile justice process, youth culture and crime, and juvenile correctional counseling. You will also complete elective courses across disciplines to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the field.
Grand Valley's criminal justice program is one of the largest in the country, with nationally recognized faculty offering research and service-learning opportunities. The program allows you to complete internships in agencies or organizations and includes intimate class sizes to foster an environment for dialogue and meaningful interpretation of material.
