Admission to Radiologic and Imaging Sciences
Radiologic and Imaging Sciences emphases/concentrations are competitive selective admission for each emphasis and require completion of a secondary application. Please contact the College of Health Professions for secondary application packages. This package requires submission of official copies of all transcripts, resume, 1-2 page statement of professional goals, in addition to evidence of the criteria listed below. There are no waiting lists for these programs. Admissions occur once per year beginning in the fall semester (August). Applications are due February 1 with applicants invited to enroll based on the following criteria:
· Academic grade point average from prerequisite courses (40%).
· Academic grade point average from previous two calendar years (10%).
· Evaluation from a professional writing sample (15%).
· Evaluation from a personal interview (15%).
· Completion of 16 hours of documented work or volunteer time in a health field (5%).
· Two letters of recommendation on GVSU forms (5%).
· Additional considerations (10%)
Additional educational, leadership, scholarly, work experience and/or volunteer activities are valued and may impact selection decisions.
Program emphases class size limit is based on clinical availability.
Once admitted students are expected to acheive a grade of B- or higher in all emphases courses to continue in the program.
Two SWS courses are required for graduation. It is the responsibility of the student to select courses that will fulfill all writing requirements. Satisfactory scores on the junior-level assessment essay or the WRT 305 course is also required.
Radiation therapy students are recommended to take Death and Dying SS 381 (3 credits) or PSY 364 Life Span Development. Although SS 381 is part of Theme 14, students may choose any theme to meet the General Education Theme requirements.
