We welcome qualified students to submit their applications. Please review our undergraduate admissions requirements before preparing your application.
Students may complete the undergraduate application by submitting an online application below, or by printing, completing, and mailing our paper application. A non-degree paper application is also available.
Due to SAT and ACT testing cancelations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Grand Valley State University will allow freshman students to apply for the fall of 2021 without these test scores. We will continue to maintain our high academic standards, though the decision to submit test scores will be left entirely up to the applicant. All applicants admitted to GVSU by December 31 will be considered for merit-based scholarships, regardless of whether or not test scores are submitted with the application.
When you apply, you will be able to indicate that you are submitting a test-optional application. Even if you submit a test-optional application, you may still submit test scores as a supplement to your application, even at a later date, for additional scholarship consideration.
The Admissions Office at Grand Valley takes a holistic approach to reviewing applications, meaning several factors of an application are evaluated to determine academic fit for GVSU. These factors include grade point average (GPA), academic rigor, short answer response on the admissions application, and standardized test scores when presented.
In addition to the test-optional accommodation, additional admissions considerations will be made, including accepting the grading policies that high schools have put in place for their current online teaching curriculum.
Completed application for admissions, including all supporting documents, must be submitted by December 31 for merit scholarship consideration. Final scholarship decisions are made by July 31.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. The report also contains information about crime data for three previous calendar years. Statistics include reported crimes that occurred on the campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by GVSU and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by law and is provided by the Grand Valley State University Police Department.
