Biography

Hsiao-Ping Chen received her Ph.D. in Art Education from The Ohio State University. She is currently a professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts at Grand Valley State University, where she teaches courses for pre-service K–12 art teachers and curriculum integration for PK–6, with a focus on visual arts integration for elementary education students. She also teaches courses in digital creativity and has taught 2D design and data design for non-art majors.

Her research interests include computer technologies, curriculum integration, identity construction, creativity, and data visualization. She is the author of From Artmaking to Identity Making and co-author of Introduction to Integrating Music, Art, and Theater in Elementary Education. Her work has also been published in the International Journal of Education through Art (IJETA).
