Assessment as a roadmap to improvement |
3/10/2025 |
UAC re-launched assessment planning and reporting by asking units to identify "2+" SLOs/SCOs. This model helped programs restart assessment but cannot capture the richness or breadth of all important Student Outcomes. Programs are encouraged to expand their list of SLOs/SCOs to 5-12 and develop a 6-10 year assessment calendar during which each SLO will be assessed at least twice. |

Externally Accredited Programs, revised |
3/25/2024 |
UAC has revised its assessment model and assessment process (now PDCA, Plan-Do-Check-Act). As part of the revision, UAC has developed a mechanism for programs with external accreditation, including federal funding, to use much of that work to meet GVSU's assessment requirements. Programs with external accreditation may submit documentation to UAC, showing how their external accrediting body requires assessment of Student Learning Outcomes that is consistent with GVSU's expectations. Programs can be approved to follow Expedited Process reporting, see table, to UAC. |

Externally Accredited Programs |
3/19/2018 |
To promote a meaningful review process, and in recognition of GVSU’s Assessment Philosophy and Guiding Principles, UAC expects externally accredited programs to follow the normal reporting process for student outcomes assessment, including entry of assessment information into the GVAssess database. |

Use of Course Grades |
12/10/2005 |
Since course grades and GPA tend to be aggregates of assignments measuring multiple student learning outcomes, the UAC does not find the use of course grades acceptable for the purpose of evaluating student learning outcomes (SLOs). |
