Assessment Process
The University Assessment Committee reviews the assessment activities of academic programs, emphases, certificates, stand-alone minors and co-curricular programs in GVAssess according to the quarterly review cycle (updated 7/15/25). The review cycles restart Fall 2025.
Group A: assessment report updates due August 1 of odd years.
Group B: assessment report updates due January 21 of even years.
Group C: assessment report updates due August 1 of even years.
Group D: assessment report updates due January 21 of odd years.
Programs are expected to provide annual updates to GVAssess. The University Assessment Committee reviews 1/4 of all university programs each semester. All programs have been assigned to a review cycle.
Expedited or Regular Assessment Reporting
All academic (majors, minors, emphases, stand-alone minors and stand-alone badges) and co-curricular programs collect assessment data and report it to UAC. Programs with external accreditation may request to report with the Expedited Review Process. Programs are asked to complete the form linked below and enter data about their external accreditation process. If there is significant overlap between what the external accrediting body requires for student outcomes assessment and what UAC expects, the program can be granted approval to report with the Expedited Review Process.
Expedited Review Process approval lasts for 3 years and is renewable. Programs do not create an assessment plan. Instead, they provide UAC with annual updates of how they collect, monitor, and act on assessment data required by their external accrediting body.
To apply for the Expedited Review Process, please complete the application by clicking on the Expedited Process Application button below. Please complete all fields of the form and spell out abbreviations the first time they are used.
Assessment is an ongoing process
- Annually: Units post regular (at least annual) updates on their assessment activities. Annual updates will be due by August 1 for programs with fall reviews and by January 21 for programs with winter reviews.
- Two-year cycle: UAC reviews the academic programs, advising centers, and co-curricular unit assessments on a two-year rotation.
Assessment Process
Prior to the review deadline, units should ensure that:
- The assessment plan is up-to-date in GVAssess, and data reporting has been entered for outcomes assessed in last two years. See the Reporting Expectations page for details.
Units may also wish to review the reporting expectations, reviewer rubrics, and resources and support page as they refine their assessment activities.
