Dr. Lihua Huang completes 6 years of service

Dr. Lihua Huang recently completed six years of service as a Board of Accreditation (BOA) member for the social work accrediting body, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Dr. Huang made many valuable contributions to the profession of social work through her years as a BOA member. She also joined the CSWE Center for Gerontology Education Advisory Board for a 2-year term effective until June 30, 2028. The CSWE Gero-Ed Center aims to strengthen social work education by providing critical resources, curriculum tools, and professional development to better prepare social work faculty and students to address the challenges and opportunities posed by our aging society. The Gero-Ed Center will focus on advancing gerontological competencies within social work curricula, creating comprehensive teaching tools, and fostering greater collaboration among social work programs. This effort will ensure that future social workers are fully prepared to address the complex needs of an aging society, continuing the Center's mission to train professionals who are skilled in supporting older adults in diverse settings. We’re excited to celebrate Dr. Huang’s commitment to CSWE and representation of the GVSU School of Social Work.
