Description: Trauma informed care has now become the current rage in clinical and community practice and in child welfare practices specifically.  Many clinical programs purport to deliver trauma informed care.  But do they really?  This conference will explore the essential elements of trauma informed care as well as delineate “therapeutic” approaches which run counter to trauma informed practices.  Critical to trauma informed care is the incorporation of recent findings related to the effects of trauma on the neurobiology of the developing brain.  This information forms the basis for developing trauma-informed treatment strategies that provide safety, a sense of belonging, resiliency and promote recovery.  Participants will receive tools that guide the process of trauma resolution and guidelines (tips) to utilize in advocacy and clinical practice.
