EMBA students grouped in the sales lab

Learn by Doing

The Experiential Learning & Sales Lab gives Seidman students the opportunity to practice business before they enter the workforce. Designed to mirror a professional office environment, the lab allows students to build confidence through realistic business simulations while receiving valuable video feedback on both communication and presentation skills.

Students gain experience with:

  • Presentations
  • Meetings
  • Negotiations
  • Interviews
  • Team collaboration
  • Professional communication

Preparing Career-Ready Graduates

The communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills developed in the lab extend far beyond sales. Whether students pursue marketing, finance, accounting, management, entrepreneurship, or another business discipline, the ability to communicate with confidence is critical for long-term success.

Industry partners have seen the impact firsthand. Employers report that students who participate in experiential learning environments ramp up more quickly and contribute sooner in professional roles.

Built with Industry

The Experiential Learning & Sales Lab was made possible through the support of Fifth Wheel Freight, the lab's founding sponsor. Their investment reflects a shared commitment to preparing students with the practical communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills that employers value from day one.

As a logistics and transportation leader with strong ties to Grand Valley, Fifth Wheel Freight recognizes that professional success depends on more than technical knowledge. Through this partnership, students gain opportunities to practice real-world business scenarios in a professional environment designed to build confidence before entering the workforce.

Negotiation skills, relationship building, trust building, general sales, and business skills can transfer to really any organization.
