If you would like to hire a recent GVSU retiree, you must wait a minimum of 2 pay cycles before they may be rehired into an adjunct position.


Full-Time AP & Full-Time Adjunct AP Staff

Full-time AP/Adjunct AP with medical and additional benefits work 30-40 hours per week.

If you are hiring a full-time AP, a grant-funded AP, or a full-time adjunct AP, use the appointment letters below.

AP Staff

 Adjunct AP Staff (12-Month Appointments)

*Note that the AP you are hiring must be making more than $684 per week to utilize this forms. If they will be making less than $684 per week, review the other forms on this page.

Part-Time AP & Part-Time Adjunct AP Staff

Part-time AP/Adjunct AP with some benefits (not including medical) work 20-29 hours per week, while Part-time AP/Adjunct AP without benefits work 19 or less hours per week.

If you are hiring an AP staff member that fits into one of the categories below, you must utilize the Hourly Rate Calculation Tool prior to submitting your appointment letter. If you do not use the hourly rate calculation tool as instructed, we will not be able to process your appointment letter.

Adjunct AP Staff (Less than 12-Month Appointments)
*Part-time Adjunct AP staff working less than 12-month appointments cannot exceed 29 hours per week.

Instructions for Hourly Rate Calculation Tool

Use the Hourly Rate Calculation Tool to automatically calculate the number of hours per pay period and the hourly rate for you to enter into the appointment letter, if required.

Hourly Rate Calculation Tool

The following appointment letters require this information:

  • AP making less than $684/week
  • Part-time AP
  • 12 Month Adjunct AP (Part-time)
  • 12 Month Adjunct AP Making Less than $684/week
  • Less than 12 Month Adjunct AP
  • Less than 12 Month Adjunct AP Making Less than $684/week

You will manually enter information into the blue sections of the calculation spreadsheet. Please remember that you will need to check the payroll calendar in order to determine the number of weeks worked (line 4) and to determine how many semi-monthly pay periods are in the appointment (line 5).

Here is the order you will enter information:

  1. Number of hours per week to be worked
  2. Number of weeks to be worked
  3. Number of semi-monthly pay periods
  4. Total to be paid per contract
