2025-2026 Financial Aid - Keeping You Updated
We understand that the current uncertainty surrounding the Department of Education's status may raise questions for your family. At Grand Valley State University, we want to reassure you that we are here to support you during this time. We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you informed as new information becomes available. At this time, there are no known impacts to federal financial aid applications and disbursement, including Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Student Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, and Graduate PLUS Loans. We strongly encourage you to file your FAFSA for 25-26 as soon as possible, if you have not done so already.
If you encounter any technical issues with your FAFSA, please reach out to our office ([email protected]) for assistance. In some cases, we may need to direct you to Federal Student Aid for further support.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 school year is now ready for you to complete. We recommend you file the FAFSA as soon as possible. Filing your FAFSA now will give you more opportunities for scholarships and financial aid.
Federal Student Loan Repayment Update:
The Department of Education (ED) announced on April 21, 2025 that it will resume the collections process for defaulted federal student loans on May 5, after a five-year pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic. If you are in default, you should be receiving an email from Federal Student Aid, with information on how to contact the Default Resolution Group, where borrowers can make a monthly payment, enroll in an income-driven repayment plan (IDR), or sign up for loan rehabilitation. If you are unsure of your status with your Federal Student Loans, please login at https://studentaid.gov/ to review your account.
