The English Department is excited to launch a new study-abroad program for English majors who wish to gain international educational experience in the largest English learning and teaching market in the world: China. Program participants will work with elementary school children, college English majors, and adult English learners at a Chinese university in the historical city of Xi'an, China. Because of the central location of the host city, students will have opportunities to travel to Shanghai and Beijing during this program and experience such World Heritage Sites as seeing some of the 8,000 terra cotta warriors and their horses (circa 200 BC): climbing a part of the 5,000 mile long Great Wall of China, exploring the 600 year old Forbidden City with its 900 buildings; enjoying the Summer Palace with its dragon boats and strolling along Shanghai's Bund. This program is ideal for those who want to combine their elementary education track in the English major with ESL training in an international context to expand their professional portfolio and marketability in todays increasingly competitive job market.
