Experiential Learning Opportunity for GV Computing Students!

GVSU’s Applied Computing Institute (ACI) is looking to fill two ACI Residency positions immediately.  ACI’s Residency Program provides undergraduates an opportunity to work on a computing-related project with an ACI industry partner while enrolled as a full-time student.  By working on a project, students gain an opportunity to apply what they are learning in their degree program to real world problems.  ACI Residency positions allow GVSU computing students to work on industry sponsored R&D projects for a wage, and simultaneously earn credit towards their degree program.

DevOps ACI Residency: This position is sponsored by Michigan Software Labs in Ada, Michigan.  This position involves working as a DevOps engineer in collaboration with the Michigan Software Labs team for approximately 20 hours a week.  DevOps is a combination of software development and IT practices that aims to reduce the time it takes to deliver high quality production software. You can find an informative link to describing the responsibilities of a DevOps engineer at Michigan Software Labs on their website.

App Dev / Machine Learning ACI Residency: This position is funded by a large (fortune 500) multinational consumer goods corporation.  The position involves working on a team (15 hours a week) that is designing and implementing an experimental mobile app powered by ML models that help consumers improve dental hygiene.

How to apply: If you have been formally admitted to one of the GVSU School of CIS undergraduate degree programs, you are elgible to apply to one or both of these positions. If you are interested in applying for one or both of these positions or would simply like to learn more about the opportunities, please email a copy of your current resume to Dr. John Engelsma at [email protected].
