Dean of the College of Computing

Grand Valley State University (Grand Valley) invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations of candidates in its search for the inaugural Dean of the College of Computing. The dean will work with faculty to create a vision and blueprint for the college that will address the evolving needs and growth of the tech industry in Grand Rapids, West Michigan, and beyond.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Computing

The School of Computing at Grand Valley State University seeks to fill multiple tenure-track assistant/associate professor positions beginning August 2024.

A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or closely related field is required.  ABD near completion will be considered.  Candidates must be professionally active, have demonstrable teaching potential and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students through teaching and research. We are looking for excellent teachers with a passion for computing and learning and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. Mentoring undergraduate or graduate research in your area of technical specialty is valued.  Candidates with specialties in info/data visualizationUX/HCI, or data science are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will teach core areas of computer science, data science, information systems, information technology, or cybersecurity. Typically involves a 3-3 teaching load with scholarship options. Engagement in research and collaboration with students and affiliated faculty or industry partners is desired.  We seek individuals who can leverage their research agenda to facilitate collaboration and bring innovative pedagogical methods into undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Cyber Range Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or other relevant area.
  • Experience with industry engagement and outreach, or involvement with local cybersecurity community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as GVSU point of contact for external uses of GVSU / MICTRA Cyber Range.
  • Promote external use of the GVSU / MICTRA Cyber Range to the regional cybersecurity community.
  • Promote collaboration opportunities with GVSU’s Institute for Cybersecurity Education and Research to the regional cybersecurity community.
  • Schedule external users of cyber range.
  • Serve as point of contact between GVSU School of Computing and MICTRA.
  • Coordinate staffing of GVSU graduate assistants and student workers in the Cyber Range
  • Ensure that Cyber Range is prepared for GVSU academic uses.
  • Dependent on technical skills, test and catalog cyber range activities for GVSU use and/or coordinate student worker efforts for these tasks.

Visiting Faculty Member

The School of Computing at Grand Valley State University invites qualified individuals with a strong interest in teaching computer science or information systems courses, to apply for a non-tenure one-year visiting faculty position beginning Fall 2023. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach undergraduate courses in one or more computing topics including programming languages in Python, introduction to computing and productivity tools, and core computing courses.
