Crowe, LLP scholarship is for a Junior Accounting major entering senior year in the fall of the award year who is a Michigan resident, with a minimum cumulative GPA 3.2 and 3.5 GPA in accounting, with a desire to live and work in the Midwest. The student must exhibit leadership skills in addition to academic excellence. The scholarship award is $1,000.

This scholarship was created by the Seidman School of Business and Accounting alumni in honor of Professor Emeritus and former Accounting Department Chair, Don Klein. Candidates must be accepted by Grand Valley State University for enrollment in the MSA program to be eligible to receive this scholarship. Recipients will receive up to $5,000 towards tuition and fees. Students must include a statement describing your career goal (including your desired position in 5 to 10 years and how you intend to achieve this), a copy of your current resume, a(n unofficial) transcript and an in-person interview with the scholarship committee. EY Accounting Senior Excellence Award is given to a senior accounting major preparing for graduate studies who exhibits leadership skills and good scholastic ability. The amount of this scholarship is $1,000.

The Accounting Alumni Scholarship Fund was established to recognize outstanding full-time undergraduate accounting students who show promise of making outstanding contributions in the field of accounting. Recipients are expected to demonstrate good scholarship, interpersonal skills, and continued involvement in the business community. Recipients will receive up to $3,000 ($1,500 per semester) towards tuition and fees.

Hungerford Nichols CPAs + Advisors established a scholarship in 2003 for undergraduate GVSU accounting students. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time and have an interest in a career in public accounting in West Michigan. Recipients are expected to demonstrate good scholarship, interpersonal skills and continued involvement in the business community. Recipients receive $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) toward tuition and fees at GVSU. Hungerford Nichols is a locally owned and controlled, full-service CPA firm, serving West Michigan since 1941.

Plante Moran established a scholarship for undergraduate GVSU accounting students. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time and have an interest in a career in public accounting. Recipients are expected to demonstrate good scholarship, interpersonal skills, and continued involvement in the community. Recipients receive $1,000 ($500 per semester) toward tuition and fees.

Richard H. Giles Memorial Scholarships are awarded to full-time (averaging 9 credit hours or more per semester) graduate degree-seeking students who show promise of making outstanding contributions in the field of public accounting. Recipients are expected to demonstrate good scholarship, interpersonal skills, and continued involvement in the business community. Recipients will receive up to $4,000 ($2,000 per semester) towards tuition & fees.

The Western Michigan Chapter of the Tax Executives Institute (TEI) established a scholarship for GVSU accounting students with an interest in tax. Scholarships will be awarded to students currently in or entering the MST or MSA program with a focus in tax. The student must not be eligible for reimbursement from their employer. Recipients are expected to demonstrate good scholarship, interpersonal skills, and continued involvement in the business community. Recipients will receive up to $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) towards tuition for graduate tax courses. A one page essay must address future goals and plans in the tax field.

This scholarship recognizes an outstanding student who wants to pursue a Master of Science in Accounting graduate degree at the Seidman College of Business, panning to enter the accounting profession. This scholarship provides for the full in-state tuition cost of 33 credits. Scholarship candidates must be enrolled in, or application accepted for, full-time status as a graduate accounting degree-seeking student (MSA) and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better (4.0 system).

The application process includes submission of a two page, typed, double-spaced essay on the topic “Discuss where you would like to be in your career in five years and what influences have shaped your decisions,” along with two letters of recommendation, with one being from an academic source, and an in-person interview with the scholarship committee.
