• 120 CreditsThe management major, with an emphasis in management information systems, is a degree program combining business management principles with the study of information systems.
This program teaches students how to manage and lead organizations while utilizing technology to improve business processes, decision-making, and communication. The MIS emphasis provides students with an understanding of concepts, principles, and techniques to design, develop, and implement enterprise information systems.
You will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes courses in financial and managerial accounting, economics, managerial finance, business processes, and management information systems. Courses in marketing management, operations management, administrative policy, and various ethics and business electives tailor your education to your unique goals.
The program integrates current and emerging technologies into courses, offering unique experiential learning opportunities. Faculty members bring a blend of academic achievement and professional experience, providing industry knowledge in the classroom and beyond. Local and international companies actively recruit for paid internships and entry-level positions, and upper-division courses are taken in the vibrant business environment of downtown Grand Rapids, MI.
Seidman's Early Access Program
Each year, the Seidman College of Business allows early access into the business college to a select few individuals as first-year students. This honor is reserved for students who have received a 3.500 or higher high school GPA.
Seidman Success Standards
For students not part of Seidman’s Early Access program, the Seidman
College of Business permits access to upper-level (300-400) business
courses after meeting the following Seidman Success Standards:
1.
Have earned at least 55 semester hours (junior status)
2.
Established a 2.500 or higher overall GPA; and
3. Completed the
following courses with a 2.500 or higher combined GPA: ACC 212, BUS
201, ECO 210, ECO 211, MGT 268, STA 215

Admissions and Recruitment Office
Plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects. Lead and guide the work of technical staff. Serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of projects. Plan project stages and assess business implications for each stage. Monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.
