Biography
Born and raised in Michigan, Spencer Everhart is a Grand Valley State University alumnus who joined the GVSU film and video faculty as a Visiting Professor in 2018. He received his Master's Degree in Cinema & Media Studies from York University in Toronto where his research focused on digital cinema aesthetics and production processes. His interests as a scholar and cinephile are varied, ranging from commercial Hollywood filmmaking, the horror genre, and contemporary cinephilia to online media cultures, experimental narrative cinema, and the avant-garde. Spencer is also a programmer active in Grand Rapids working to curate screenings for events such as Open Projector Night and the Chiaroscuro International Film Series.
