Graphic Design Seniors Displayed their Capstone Projects at the GVSU Campus

Every winter, many seniors conclude their studies and wrap up their projects. And this is not any different in the Visual and Media Arts Department Graphic Design Area. In the last two weeks before exams, students presented their senior projects in two back-to-back exhibitions titled X-Height and Lorem Ipsum.
The Graphic Design Senior Project is a celebration of three-years dedicated to a professional education in design. The projects are coordinated with help from Vinicius Lima, assistant professor.
“It’s the first project that’s completely self-initiated; they have to choose what the project is, they have to manage their time and their budgets, and they need to coordinate their production,” Lima said. “It flips the role between the instructor and the student. That’s what makes this project very special.”
The first exhibit, titled X-Height, featured 11 students at the GVSU Art Gallery Space, in the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Performing Arts Center. The exhibition was open from April 9–12, with a closing reception on the last day from 5–7 p.m.

The second exhibit started the following week and was titled Lorem Ipsum. Lorem Ipsum featured 7 students at the Stuart B. and Barbara H. Padnos Student Art and Design Gallery, at the Calder Arts Center. This exhibition was open from April 16–19, with a closing reception on its last day from 5–7 p.m.
