Wellness Navigators
What is a Wellness Navigator?
Wellness Navigators are GVSU students that can help you navigate wellness resources on campus to support you in reaching your wellness goals! This is a free service for GVSU students.
What scenarios can a Wellness Navigator help with?
- You want to improve your wellness but don't know where to start
- You don't know how to get in touch with campus resources
- You'd like someone to actually go with you to a campus department
- You just need a little encouragement as you start working on your wellness

- Recreation & Wellness
- And more!
Our Wellness Navigators do not...
- Offer counseling
- Administer therapy
- Prescribe exercise programs
- Diagnosis illness
- Offer long-term wellness coaching
- Provide services offered by other departments
Refer a Student
Do you know someone who may benefit from working with a Wellness Navigator? Please use the "Refer a Student" button to refer them. RecWell will reach out to the student to give them more information about the service.
What to Expect
The Wellness Navigator program includes 3 meetings with your peer Wellness Navigator.
1. Consultation
You will:
- Meet one-on-one with your Wellness Navigator
- Talk about your wellness goals
- Explore campus resources needed
Approximate appointment length: 30-45 minutes
2. Field Trip or Check-in
You will:
- Discuss progress towards goals
- Celebrate successes and plan to overcome barriers
- Meet your Wellness Navigator at a campus resource (if you choose) or via phone/zoom/in-person
Approximate appointment length: 30-60 minutes
Approximately 2 weeks after consultation.
3. Final Follow-up
You will:
- Evaluate your progress
- Celebrate successes
- Complete a satisfaction feedback survey
Approximate appointment length: 30 minutes
Approximately 2 weeks after Field Trip/Check-in.
Getting Started
To begin with a Wellness Navigator, choose a navigator from below who has navigation expertise in the area you are interested in. Click on the button under their photo that says "Schedule" to find an appointment time that works best for you!
You will need to create an account on Mindbody. Please note that you will be asked to put in credit card information but you can click "Ignore." Wellness Navigating is FREE!
Once you select a day and time that works for you, you will receive a confirmation email from your navigator with a form to complete prior to your consultation.
Meet the Navigators
Find a navigator who aligns with your wellness goals or which resources you may need help navigating. Our navigators can help with any on-campus resource but have areas of interest listed below. Click on the "Schedule" button below the navigator to see all Wellness Navigator availability on MindBody. You will need to select the navigator's name under "select instructor."
