Biography
Uliana Filatova earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Florida Atlantic University and joined Grand Valley State University in 2025, where she teaches introductory managerial finance. Her primary research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance, financial institutions, and investments. Her co-authored paper, Analyst Institutional Client Catering and Reputation Tradeoff: Analysts' Strategic Timing of Recommendations, was published in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance. In 2024, she received the Institute for Humane Studies ESG Paper Incubator Grant for her project Positive versus Negative ESG Portfolio Screening and Investors' Preferences. That same year, she was recognized with the College of Business Excellence in Ph.D. Student Teaching Award from Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Filatova also holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University, an International Certificate of Valuation Specialist – Advanced (ICVS-A) from the CFIBV Center for International Business Valuation, and an Advanced ACUE Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
