Biography
Uliana Filatova earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Florida Atlantic University and joined Grand Valley State University in 2025, where she teaches undergraduate courses in managerial finance. Her research focuses on corporate finance, corporate governance, financial institutions, and capital markets. Her work examines how information flows, social relationships, and governance structures influence financial decision-making, investor behavior, and market outcomes. Her research has been published in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance and The European Journal of Finance. Her recent research explores the role of social connections in bond pricing, investor preferences for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment strategies, and the influence of financial intermediaries on capital market outcomes. She is also interested in issues related to information asymmetry, corporate governance, and ethical decision-making in financial markets. Dr. Filatova also holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University, an International Certificate of Valuation Specialist – Advanced (ICVS-A), has passed Level I of the CFA Program, and earned an Advanced ACUE Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
