Audrey Brown is a visiting assistant professor of philosophy and works in the fields of North American Indigenous Philosophy and American Philosophy (including pragmatism, American feminism, philosophy of race, and early Puritan thought). Her work largely focuses on the intersection of the two fields and the history of settler colonialism in the United States. She works to continue to expand the cannon of American philosophy to include Indigenous philosophers and has published on Laura Cornelius Kellogg, John Ross, Zitkala-Ša, William Apess and others. Additionally, Audrey has also published on classical American philosophers like Jonathan Edwards, Josiah Royce, and John Dewey.
She currently has two manuscripts in process. The first, titled New World Metaphysics, looks at a history of political and philosophical ideas that shaped U.S. Settler Colonialism. The second, titled Introduction to North American Indigenous Philosophy (coauthored with Scott L. Pratt and Jonathan Van Belle), is an intro textbook to the field of Indigenous philosophy in North America.
