Description
Bio: Tyler Allyn-White is the Stewardship Supervisor for Ottawa County Parks, helping care for nearly 8,000 acres of natural area across our parks system. Beyond the boundaries of parks, he's motivated to share knowledge and empower residents to restore nature at home and strengthen their connection to local landscapes. Description: Nature is under strain across the country, and with so much land privately owned, the health of our ecosystems now depends on what we do right outside our doors. The Connected County Park initiative invites every resident to help rebuild a thriving, connected landscape by turning yards, neighborhoods, and community spaces into a growing county wide "park" already spanning more than 50 acres across nearly 100 properties. This talk will explore why restoration at home matters, what we’re learning from this community movement, and how shared stewardship can renew both our environment and our relationship with the natural world. This event will be located at the Grand Ravines North Lodge.
