FAQ: Udemy
Available in Workday Learning
The frequently asked questions below are available to guide you in navigating Udemy content in Workday Learning.
In your non-working hours, you’re welcome to engage with any Udemy content you wish. If you are unsure if a piece of learning content is appropriate during working hours, have a discussion with your manager and establish clear expectations. A team member’s learning engagement is viewable on their learning transcript. If additional support is needed, please reach out to your HR Business Partner for discussion.
All overtime must be discussed and approved with your manager in advance of incurring that time. Job priorities and related work should come first, and overtime should not involve hours spent viewing learning content and only when necessary. If additional support is needed, please reach out to your HR Business Partner for discussion.

No, the Workday Learning system does not offer the opportunity for an employee to opt-out and exclude individual courses from their Learning transcript.
One of the benefits of the system is that your Learning transcript functions as a comprehensive learning record, supporting compliance tracking, development planning, and transcript accuracy. Allowing selective removal of courses would compromise those functions and create gaps in our reporting integrity.
If an employee prefers not to have a course appear on their transcript, try exploring the resources on these types of topics available through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), AllOne Health, the My Life Expert portal, and Gary Atkins, our Work Life Consultant. These resources are available to support faculty and staff through confidential resource access.
Your manager and the rest of your leadership chain does have access to view your learning transcript. They will be able to see the learning content you’re enrolled in and the status of completion (not started, in progress, or completed), as well as when enrolled in the learning and when you completed it once applicable.
Some of the learning content is long and requires a significant investment of hours to complete. You should be having regular conversations with your manager on professional development opportunities and engagement. Discuss these lengthy learning opportunities, along with any learning and development you’d like to engage in, with your manager at your regular connections. Employees and managers need to ensure a clear shared understanding of work expectations, priorities, and deadlines, so a meaningful development plan and cadence of learning engagement can be agreed on.
Udemy learning content is not eligible for university credits and does not serve as a replacement for degree programs offered at GVSU.
