Eugenia Cheng Helps Inaugurate Student Math Colloquium

On Thursday, September 24, nearly 60 students and faculty listened to Dr. Eugenia Cheng's energetic presentation, "How To Bake π". In her talk, she connected Bach, braids, factors of 30, baking, and category theory, revealing the joy of learning and creating higher mathematics. Cheng's talk is the first of the Mathematics Department's new Student Colloquium, which will is part of an on-going initiative to engage math majors and minors outside of the classroom.
